David Gibbon opened the Edinburgh office of Povall Worthington, a national practice of building surveyors and architects, in 1985. It was the first specialist chartered surveying practice in the city. In 1996 he led the office to independence as an Edinburgh based practice operating throughout the UK.

GLM reflects his interest in design, conservation and project management. He is also an enthusiastic surveyor of old, interesting and challenging buildings. With nearly 40 years of experience in dealing with the property and construction industries he brings to both building projects and condition surveys a combination of knowledge and lateral thinking and an enduring enthusiasm for trying to find better ways of solving problems.

He is one of a handful of building surveyors accredited in building conservation in Scotland.
