One of the founders of GLM and its managing director, Ian's solid technical and first class academic background is complemented by intensive building surveying experience and project management expertise.

Ian is one of the country's leading experts in the master planning and development of leisure and tourism related destinations, heading the rapidly growing Destination Planning division of GLM. He is currently leading an extensive team on the ambitious and long overdue redevelopment of one of Scotland's best known tourist destinations, John O' Groats and three other similar developments in England and Wales.

He has been responsible for the maintenance of a major complex of buildings, the upgrade of fire integrity of a principal Edinburgh hotel and the project management of numerous commercial building refurbishment and repair projects together with many important pre-acquisition surveys for major commercial and institutional clients.

As well as having a well established track record in all the main fields of Building Surveying practice from dilapidation and condition surveys, building surveys and maintenance planning to major project work, he has demonstrated his ability to undertake highly conscientious work which is particularly appreciated by commercial and investment clients.

Ian is currently the Head of the Building Surveying Professional Group of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Scotland.
