The past few years have been a period of intense creativity for GLM. Possibly against the trend, we continue to be busy and we continue to get exciting new commissions. With a very over-heated construction industry came high construction costs, long delivery times and shortages of skilled labour. Local authority planning and building control departments buckled under the strain. Now as the economy cools it is beginning to be possible to get high quality work done at reasonable cost. But the construction industry is more tricky to engage with. As margins are squeezed contractors are bound to face liquidity problems. Projects will become more adversarial.
