Aberdeenshire Castle
Castle project nears completion
Work is nearing completion at a Category B Listed Aberdeenshire Castle. The objective was to adapt the building to suit the needs of a family with young children. By putting in a new staircase between the first and second floors we were able to connect what had previously been an attic floor approached by a narrow back stair with the main part of the house and, at the same time, to let daylight into a dark corridor. This provided a useful increase in the amount of bedroom accommodation in the castle. Other aspects of the project included new French windows to transform the connection between the house and the garden, new dormer windows to make better use of the second floor and new services.
