Consent granted for funky city-centre living

GLM Architect, David Johnson has designed a contemporary conversion of a tiny Victorian outbuilding to create a light, stylish and deceptively spacious pied-a-terre. One option might have been to do it in a mock-Victorian style.

"Pastiche" is a shabby immitation of what went before rather than something good in its own right. In reaction to this accusation many architects resolutely stick to a "modern" design idiom. In the end there is no escape. "Modern Movement" ends up in the catalogue of styles alongside names like "Scottish baronial" "Georgian" "Greek" "Arts and Crafts". The underlying architecture may be good or bad or something in between but it can often take on, chamelion-like, any number of different styles.

GLM achieved both Planning & Listed Building Consent approvals for this very sensitive site and are now working on Building Warrant approval.
