GLM's architects are passionate about building design and delight in the challenge of meeting each client's needs and stretching their expectations. We know that your project is very personal to you so we ensure you receive an equally personal service with a dedicated Architect throughout the project. We provide a full design service from feasibility studies with budget cost appraisals, through close communication with the Client and design refinement to detailed working drawings and construction monitoring. We pride ourselves on carefully well thought out imaginative but practical designs with close attention to detail. The architectural team is lead by David Johnson RIBA ARIAS - a young architect of considerable talent and practical experience and Anne Johnstone RIBA RIAS - a highly experience architect with a background in commercial work.
When it comes to new buildings we are influenced by our understanding of traditional forms but bring contemporary design and innovation to each project. Recently completed projects include 3 substantial dwellings in the Scottish Borders and a stone built baronial style gate lodge for highland estate. In the Cairngorms National Park we are working on a contemporary style low carbon house which, by careful design and orientation will use passive heating and ventilation together with back up heat from a wood pellet boiler.
GLM is highly experienced in the skilful conversion of residential units, restaurants & bars and offices. We have been responsible for the conversion of dilapidated farm steadings and other Georgian town houses into high class residential units, workshops, retail and offices. On the commercial side our past projects include new build, alterations and extensions to retail, leisure, educational, church, transport and office developments. Our architects bring experience of different methods of procurement and construction and project sizes from the smallest building up to £20m contract values.
