Alterations - Edinburgh - Scotland - UK - GLM

The adaptive reuse of existing buildings is widely recognised as a very good way of securing the future of buildings that have outlived their original function. This results in an environment that is visually pleasing, produces often quirky and interesting buildings that would never have otherwise evolved, responds creatively to the constraints imposed by Listed status and Conservation areas and is highly beneficial in terms of the overall "sustainability" agenda being promoted by government and by all who care for the future of the planet.

Over time we have developed a vocabulary of ideas for converting, altering and extending existing buildings. We understand the constraints imposed by Building Regulations. We have a "feel" for old buildings, an understanding of what works.

We can show prospective clients a great range of work of this kind. A particularly lively area of work is in the conversion of redundant farm buildings which often present a similar set of challenges and opportunities.
